How Being Sexually Abused as a Child Affected my Adult Life

The “negative side-effects” all started very early. However, since I was only a child and was still a dependent, I easily covered up my differences. Everything was always regarded as me going through a ‘phase’ or simply acting shy. Sometimes the excuses were “she doesn’t know any better” or ‘she’ll grow out of it.” The problem is that child sexual abuse, or any form of child abuse for that matter, does not only affect your childhood.
